Acacia cognata
Zest
Goldcog2 PBR pending

This beautiful small shrub is a selected seedling from P&M Goldup ongoing breeding program. It forms a rich compact lime/yellow foliage shrub. Flowers could appear in late winter as the plant matures and are pale yellow in colour.

POSITION: Zest prefers a well-drained soil and can take some moisture and grows in full sun to semi shade.

CONDITIONS: Soil pH: 4.5 to 7.5

Soil preparation: Soil can range from quite acid to alkaline in pH levels, it is important to have good soil preparation to gain the best results when planting natives. This improves the water-holding capacity of the soil and for young plants, once established, will have lower water requirements.

Soil is classified into three groups -

CARE: This plant requires very little attention once established. A feed at least once a year with a slow release fertilizer will enhance its growth. Mulching around the plant will help retain water and a light tipping back prune will help keep the plant to remain compact.

USES: This plant makes a very good low hedge and is a good accent plant in the garden with its golden foliage. It grows well in a rockery or tub on a patio and suit small garden areas.
