Callistemon salignus hybrid
Little Jet CS004 PBR pending
Little Jet is a densely foliaged plant that comes from hardy parentage. It has been selected for its unique compact habit. This plant produces red tipped new growth during the cooler months, and tiny insignificant red flowers hidden behind the foliage appear along the stem in spring.
POSITION: Grows well in both dappled shade and full sun. It is adaptable to most well drained soils and is a versatile plant. Once this plant is established it will tolerate periods of dry and is adaptable to frost conditions.
CONDITIONS: Soil pH: 4.5 to 7.0
Soil preparation: Soil can range from quite acid to alkaline in pH levels, it is important to have good soil preparation to gain the best results when planting natives. This improves the water-holding capacity of the soil and for young plants, once established, will have lower water requirements.
Soil is classified into three groups -

CARE: This plant is low maintenance and requires no pruning as it naturally stays compact. It is best to initially feed with a slow release low phosphorus fertiliser to help first establish the plant, and it is beneficial to follow up with the occasional reapplication of fertiliser and apply as required. Mulching around the base of the plant will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
USES: Little Jet has a variety of uses from low hedging to contrast foliage in the cooler months; it stays lush and green with little water over summer.
