Dampiera linearis
Cobalt Mound
Cobalt Mound is a selected form of Dampiera linearis with a natural compact mounding habit and rich tight green tooth shaped leaves, producing an abundance of dainty bright sapphire blue flowers in spring to early summer.
POSITION: Grows well in both part shade and full sun. It is adaptable to most well drained moist soils, and requires summer watering when conditions are dry.
CONDITIONS: Soil pH: 4.4 to 6.5
Soil preparation: Soil can range from quite acid to alkaline in pH levels, it is important to have good soil preparation to gain the best results when planting natives. This improves the water-holding capacity of the soil and for young plants, once established, will have lower water requirements.
Soil is classified into three groups -

CARE: It is best to initially feed with a slow release low phosphorus fertiliser to help establish the plant. It is beneficial to follow up with the occasional reapplication of fertiliser and apply as required. Mulching around the base of the plant will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
USES: Cobalt Mound forms a thick mound that is useful in rockery plantings and can be used along pathways to create a colourful low level border.
