Grevillea rhyolitica
Ruby Jewel
GR001 PBR
Ruby Jewel has been selected for its small compact habit and lush glossy green foliage. Beautiful ruby red flowers form in autumn through to spring.
POSITION: Grows well in both dappled shade and full sun. It is adaptable to most well drained soils and is a versatile plant. Once this plant is established it will tolerate short periods of dry and light frost conditions.
CONDITIONS: Soil pH: 4.5 to 7.0
Soil preparation: Soil can range from quite acid to alkaline in pH levels, it is important to have good soil preparation to gain the best results when planting natives. This improves the water-holding capacity of the soil and for young plants, once established, will have lower water requirements.

CARE: This plant requires little maintenance and will benefit from tip prune to keep it compact. It is best to initially feed with a slow release low phosphorus fertiliser to help first establish the plant, and it is beneficial to follow up with the occasional reapplication of fertiliser and apply as required. Mulching around the base of the plant will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
USES: Ruby Jewel has a variety of uses from hedging to garden border or as a rockery planting. It can be pruned to a desired height to create low to medium hedges. It is a great choice for dense low screening in gardens or as a specimen tub plant on the patio.
