Hibbertia vestita
Golden Sunburst

Golden Sunburst is an attractive mounding ground cover with carpeting green foliage. This cheerful plant produces golden flowers in autumn and spring.

POSITION: Grows best in full sun with good airflow and well drained soils. This plant is ideal for coastal locations where rainfall is consistent. Once established this plant will tolerate short periods of dry.

CONDITIONS: Soil pH: 4.5 to 6.5

Soil preparation: Soil can range from quite acid to alkaline in pH levels, it is important to have good soil preparation to gain the best results when planting natives. This improves the water-holding capacity of the soil and for young plants, once established, will have lower water requirements.

Soil is classified into three groups -

CARE: This plant requires little maintenance as its mounding ground cover habit naturally forms a good shape, thus requiring little or no pruning. It is best to initially feed with a slow release low phosphorus fertiliser to help establish the plant. It is beneficial to follow up with the occasional reapplication of fertiliser and apply as required. Mulching around the base of the plant will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

USES: Golden Sunburst is an excellent plant for creating border planting in formal and informal gardens.
