Myoporum parvifolium
Garden Armour PBR

Garden Armour is a form of Myoporum that was originally selected from plants growing along the cliffs of the Murray River in South Australia by local bush safari operator and author Rex Ellis. This superior groundcover grows as living mulch, tolerating extremely low rainfall, high temperatures and is a natural fire retardant. Profuse dainty white star shaped flowers appear during summer.

POSITION: Grows best in full sun in open areas and is adaptable to most well drained soils.

CONDITIONS: Soil pH: 4.5 to 7.0

Soil preparation: Soil can range from quite acid to alkaline in pH levels, it is important to have good soil preparation to gain the best results when planting natives. This improves the water-holding capacity of the soil and for young plants, once established, will have lower water requirements.

Soil is classified into three groups -

CARE: This very hardy ground cover requires little maintenance. It is best to initially feed with a slow release low phosphorus fertilizer to help establish the plant when first planted. Mulching the area before planting will give the best results. Once established, the natural habit of Garden Armour helps conserve moisture by acting as living mulch and is an excellent weed retardant.

USES: This attractive drought tolerant ground cover is the perfect choice to protect and defend your garden and landscape from weeds and Garden Armours natural habit reduces reflective and radiant heat.
