Westringia species nana
Deeppurple PBR pending

Deep Purple is a selected prolific richer coloured flowering form of Westringia Wild River. This small shrub has lush green leaves and produces multiple deep purple flowers which appear terminally throughout the year.

POSITION: Grows in full sun to part shade and is adaptable to most well drained soils. This plant is suitable for most climates and is extremely hardy and tolerates dry conditions once established.

CONDITIONS: Soil pH: 4.5 to 7.0

Soil preparation: Soil can range from quite acid to alkaline in pH levels, it is important to have good soil preparation to gain the best results when planting natives. This improves the water-holding capacity of the soil and for young plants, once established, will have lower water requirements.

Soil is classified into three groups -

CARE: This hardy small shrub requires little maintenance other than a tip prune to promote a more compact plant. It is best to initially feed with a slow release low phosphorus fertiliser to help establish the plant. It is beneficial to follow up with the occasional reapplication of fertiliser and apply as required. Mulching around the base of the plant will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

USES: Deep Purple is excellent for use as a garden border, rockery plant, specimen pot plant or as low level planting for gardens and large scale landscapes.
